A conference to find out more

The most common cancer in women in France, breast cancer is also the leading cause of death. Nevertheless, it turns out that an early diagnosis allows effective management with a healing rate large enough to be underlined.

In order to enlighten the public on this disease and more particularly on the prevention measures that can be implemented, Dr. Tryhoen, president of the Association for supporting the breast operated, held a conference on Friday, April 25, in the Ménissier room in Wassy. The practitioner addressed advances concerning breast cancer, but also prostate cancer which is the leading cause of cancer in humans. Dr. Tryhoen addressed the hereditary nature of cancer and the importance of the latter in prevention. Starting from this postulate, the speaker detailed in whom to seek the anomaly while specifying that when a person has this type of discomfort they can transmit it without declaring the disease. Then he swept the different variants that could create risk of cancer before 70 years.

Secondly, the speaker spoke of breast cancer in humans who affects one in 100,000 men. On the other hand, this cancer only offers a survival rate of 69 % against 80 % in women. In all cases of breast cancer the treatment is identical. As for prostate cancer, which is the first cause of cancer in humans, he touches one in eight man. Nevertheless, if the diagnosis is made early enough, the hope of survival at more than five years is around 84 % and 70 % over ten years. Having treatment is possible, prostatectomy, radiotherapy or curiousherapy as well as hormone therapy.

In conclusion, Dr. Tryhoen approached the administrative and regulatory framework. He thus said that the patient with a genetic predisposition to cancer is not required to inform his insurer because the result of this predisposition is strictly confidential. On the other hand, a person treated for cancer is strongly advised to declare it to their insurer. In the same vein, any carrier of a genetic alteration predisposing to the development of cancer is required to inform their relatives (legal obligation since June 2013).

The conference ended with an exchange with the participants.
