The league intervenes in the classes of CM1 and CM2 so as to experience them before entering the 6th grade, because it is not uncommon to note that the smoking affects children from the age of 11. “We have recently been in contact with a 7 -year -old child, already a smoker, because initiated in cigarettes by his parents”said Michèle Calvel. Georges Delonca, retired general practitioner and assistant treasurer in the league against cancer, commented: “45,000 people die each year because of cancer (lungs, bladder, colon, aerodigestive routes) in connection with tobacco consumption and 1,000 people because of passive tobacco”.
