The mayor of Longueuil will unveil this morning the details of a monster project of a new district of nearly 5,000 new housing units on the banks of the St. Lawrence River.

With an area of ​​2.5 million square feet, or 43 football fields, this field in Longue-Rive sector, also known as the Pointe de Longueuil, is among the last strategic sites available in Longueuil.

The Long-Rive sector, developed with the Company of Canada, is intended according to the mayor Catherine Fournier, to become an “emblematic district on a human scale”, composed of residences-of which at least 20 % will be housing outside the market-of local shops, a school, as well as public spaces highlighting the banks.

Its development will also make it possible to glimpse an additional service offer to the metro sector and which can benefit current residents.

The development of the Longue-Rive district will go out over a period of ten to fifteen years. The sale of the first lots must start in 2026.
