The Lyon Public Prosecutor’s Office calls the verdict

Myriam Jaouen was sentenced on April 3 for “torture or acts of barbarism that led to death without intention to give it”, but not for “murder”.

The Lyon public prosecutor’s office announced, Friday, April 11, having called on the verdict rendered against a former crèche employee, sentenced to 25 years in prison for having killed a baby by drinking a caustic product in 2022. Myriam Jaouen, 30, was sentenced on April 3 by the Rhône Assize Court for “torture or acts of barbarism that led to”, but not for “. The Advocate General had requested 30 years’ imprisonment, believing that it had acted “In perfect conscience” et “Carefully removed life from a defenseless child”.

From her police custody, Myriam Jaouen had admitted that he had the corrosive liquid ingested to lead the pipes to the little Lisa, 11 months old. But she always denied having wanted to kill her. After presenting several versions, she admitted to having held the child’s head and poured the product directly into her mouth. She no longer supported, according to her explanations, the tears of the little girl.
