(Brasilia) Brazilian police announced on Sunday that they have foiled a bomb attack during the free megaconcert of Lady Gaga the day before Rio de Janeiro and the arrest of two people in connection with this attempted attack.

“Rio de Janeiro civilian police, in collaboration with the Ministry of Justice, prevented a bomb attack during the Lady Gaga show in Copacabana,” the police announced on X.
She clarified having arrested a man, appointed as “the manager of the plan”, and a teenager.
-Searches were carried out in several cities in the state of Rio de Janeiro, as well as Sao Paulo, Rio Grande Do Sul and Mato Grosso, added the police according to the people involved “recruited participants to promote attacks on explosive and Molotov cocktails”.
The town hall of Rio said on X that 2.1 million people had attended the Lady Gaga concert, which had been going back to Brazil since 2012. Figures deemed exaggerated by certain specialists.
An impressive security device had been deployed, with more than 5,000 agents, drones and video surveillance cameras with facial recognition.
The municipal authorities, who also hope for economic benefits of more than $ 100 million, wish to perpetuate this tradition of free megaconcert in May, in order to stimulate tourism during a period considered low season.
