Former Brazilian-president Jair Bolsonaro was made “successfully” of intestinal occlusion, Sunday in Brasilia, a more and twelve-hour surgery linked to strong abdomen pains inherited from a stabbing attack in 2018.
It was his wife, Michelle Bolsonaro, who announced the first the end of the surgery, after having kept her subscribers on Instagram, regularly giving news from her husband.
“Operation successfully completed!” (…) My heart is full of gratitude for each of you who prayed, sent messages and interceded for my love, “she said in one of her stories on the social network.
A 12 -hour intervention
“This large -scale intervention lasted twelve hours and took place without problem, without it being necessary to carry out a blood transfusion,” detailed the medical bulletin of DF Star a few minutes later.
Jair Bolsonaro, 70, was subjected to a “laparotomy (surgical intervention which consists in the opening of the patient’s abdomen) to undo intestinal adhesions and reconstruct the abdominal wall”, explained this private clinic with the start of the operation, around 10:00 am (3:00 p.m. in Switzerland).
Political challenges
A few dozen supporters of the former far -right leader awaited news in front of the hospital entrance. Among them, Maurio Borges Bernardes, 84, a crucifix hung around the neck, who came to bring him his “moral and spiritual support”.
“He’s going to get out of it, I’m sure,” said this entrepreneur dressed in a yellow and green T-shirt, the colors of Brazil, and wearing a cowboy hat with an effigy sticker of Jair Bolsonaro.
“I hope he will quickly recover, that he will resume his activities 100%, that he will present himself to the election (2026) and that he (will be) elected again,” said Benhur Luis Maieron, military of the reserve.
This operation took place two weeks after the referral of the former far-right leader (2019-2022) in trials for alleged coup attempt. Jair Bolsonaro is ineligible until 2030, but he keeps hope of canceling or reducing this conviction to run for a new mandate next year.
