In this sense, the president of the commune of Assilah, Tarik Ghailan, received Wednesday a delegation from the UNESCO office in Rabat composed of Dr. Ming-Kuok Lim, specialist in media development, and Hafsa Mekouar, national manager of the communication and information program.
According to a press release from the commune of Assilah, Reunion, which took place in the presence of the director of services of the municipality, enabled constructive exchanges around the perspectives of collaboration between the two institutions.
The discussions focused in particular on the interest expressed by the commune of Assilah to join the Network of Creative Cities of UNESCO, as well as on the possibility of deepening exchanges in the future concerning other UNESCO cultural programs.
Particular attention was paid to the valuation of the living artistic heritage of the city, in particular its emblematic murals and its contemporary visual creations, which constitute a collective cultural memory.
As such, cooperation opportunities as part of the “UNESCO Archives & Documentation” program have been explored, in particular for the preservation, digitization and dissemination of this artistic heritage.
The exchanges also addressed the establishment of training workshops for young people in Assilah in the fields of culture, media and innovation, in order to strengthen their creative expression and their participation in citizen life, said the same source.
This meeting is part of the strategic dynamics of the commune of Assilah, which aims to make culture, youth and innovation of the pillars of its sustainable development, while affirming its vocation as an artistic and heritage crossroads of national and international scope.
