The national security services, in close coordination with customs agents at the port of Tangier Med, succeeded, on Thursday, in an attempted international trafficking in drugs and psychotropic substances. The operation ended in the seizure of 51,990 psychotropic tablets, belonging to various trademarks, hidden aboard a vehicle registered abroad and from a European country.
According to the preliminary data of the survey, the illicit cargo was intercepted during an in -depth inspection of the vehicle, freshly landed by a sea crossing from a Spanish port. The tablets were carefully camouflaged in covers fitted out for this purpose within the metal structure of the vehicle.
The driver, a 45 -year -old Moroccan national, was arrested on the spot. He was placed in police custody at the disposal of the judicial inquiry carried out under the supervision of the competent prosecution. This procedure aims to identify any accomplices involved in this traffic attempt, as well as to elucidate the national and transnational ramifications of this criminal network.
This operation is part of the constant and intensified efforts deployed by the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN), in synergy with the administration of customs and indirect taxes (ADII), to combat cross -border trafficking in narcotic drugs and psychoactive substances, and strengthen safety devices in the Kingdom’s entry points.
