Day 21 | Pierre Hairyvre promises to prioritize veterans

“Liberals have committed to facilitate access to services for veterans. However, under their reign, the veterans have been left in plan when we cut the number of cases and the number of veterans who expect disability services is exploding, “deplored Mr. Hairyvre.

The latter presented his promises for veterans, accompanied by his candidate in the neighboring district of Nepean – where the liberal chief also presents himself, Mark Carney -, Barbara Bal.

Pierre Poilievre notably undertook that his government automatically approves all requests for disability benefits which were not processed after 16 weeks, as well as to make available to veterans, upon their release, the allocation for studies and training.

A conservative government also wishes to facilitate reintegration into the veterans’ labor market by facilitating recognition of their skills and by promoting the hiring of veterans within the Federal Public Service, in particular by doubling the hiring objectives at the Ministry of Veterans.

Pierre Poilievre also promises to promote companies that belong to veterans when granting federal contracts.

Regain the love of veterans

The last mandate of a Government led by the PCC concluded under the seal of discord between the veterans and the party then led by Stephen Harper.

Veterans across the country denounced in particular the decision to close service of veterans service, including that of Thunder Bay in Ontario.

Questioned to know if the controversial closure of these service offices in 2014 was an error, considering the importance in his eyes to facilitate access to the service, Pierre Poilievre hinted that this conflict between his party and the veterans is a thing in the past.

“When I talk to the veterans, they don’t tell me about that. They talk about their services that are necessary to live. Access to jobs in the public service, recognition of their skills, the benefit that arrives from the first day of their retirement is the services they need. This is what we are going to deliver, ”replied the conservative chief.

“They want more services, no more bureaucracy. I did not meet a single veteran who says he wants more bureaucracy. ”— Pierre Hairyvre, leader of the Conservative Party of Canada

“Liberals want more bureaucracy. That’s all they do, he added. For accommodation, they build more bureaucracy, rather than building residences. When it is necessary to attack food, they add bureaucracy, rather than allegate the tax burden of farmers and truckers who bring us our food. ”

Medical help to die

Despite criticisms of expanding medical aid to die, in particular to include people suffering exclusively from a mental illness, Pierre Hairy was noted on Saturday that he does not intend to reduce the current scope of the right to death in dignity.

“People will continue to have this personal choice. We do not propose an enlargement of the current parameters of medical aid to die, “replied Mr. Hairyvre after a question of a journalist for Canadian press.

The conservative chief recalled his promise to create a national professional examination standard in order to quickly issue practice permits to health professionals who emigrated to Canada.

Pierre Poilievre indicates that he wants to improve access to health care to provide more options to patients who think of medical help to die.

“A strong Canada”

Liberal chief Mark Carney had not planned any public campaign event on Saturday, being content with a statement by press release on free access to national museums for young people under the age of 18.

The Liberal Party has promised a pass “a strong Canada” to allow children and young people under the age of 18 to have free access to national galleries and museums this summer.

The PLC added that it would work with the provinces who wish to establish similar tariff structures in provincial museums.

The agenda of the neo-democratic chief, Jagmeet Singh, displayed an evening event in Timmins, Ontario.

The block on “carbon tax” and aluminum

In Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean, the chief of the Bloc Québécois, Yves-François Blanchet, suggested that the liberals abandon workers in the aluminum sector.

The block pointed out that, in the case of the automotive sector, the liberal chief promised the establishment of a strategic fund of $ 2 billion, without doing the same for aluminum.

Mr. Blanchet also expects the money from Canada’s reprisals for American customs duties on aluminum to this industry, believing that Mr. Carney’s commitment to this issue was too general and free from concrete measures.

Earlier on Saturday in Trois-Rivières, Mr. Blanchet claimed compensation for Quebec concerning the pricing of carbon to consumption, which the Liberals of Mark Carney eliminated, but which will still be the subject of a “last check” six days from the elections.

The Bloc Québécois claims that Ottawa pays in Quebec, an equivalent compensation in Quebec to the share of $ 814 million paid by the province for the delivery of carbon pricing of April 22 to which Quebecers will not be entitled, worth $ 3.7 billion.

Quebecers were not the subject of this federal pricing and did not receive this discount, because Quebec was exempt due to its carbon stock market system.

“We have at least the right not to subsidize Mark Carney’s electoral claims in Canada with Quebecers’ money,” said Blanchet.
