The shortage of Dutch teachers and mathematics is worsening in official teaching in Flanders, it comes from a survey conducted by Go. Directors are also an increasingly rare commodity, according to the Flemish Official Education Dome.

According to the survey of 529 Flemish official schools, 70% are faced with a staff shortage. A total of 718 positions are to be filled, including 595 teachers. It is twice as much as at the time of the start of the school year, in September.

The GO dome! Unless periods of course open than last year, due to additional efforts provided by the teaching teams to fill the holes as much as possible. However, these measures increase the pressure on teams and affect the quality of education, warns Go.

According to data from the Flemish Agency for Education Services (AGODI), absenteeism due to illness continues to increase. A survey of the Flemish Socioeconomic Council (SERV) also shows that people working in education are more stressed than the average.
