Mark Carney says he has already “given instructions” to federal government officials to prepare the ground in order to have “effective” commercial negotiations with the United States.

These negotiations, he repeated on Friday, should take place after the April 28 elections, possibly from May.
The federal government must be ready, “whatever the government” which will be in power the day after the elections, whether conservative or liberal, said Carney.
Carney made these remarks when he left a meeting with the Canadian-American Relations Committee at the end of which he made an unrected observation of the current economic situation.
“There are already signs of a slowdown in the world economy. There is a great tightening of the financial conditions and the impacts that start in Canada. There are opposing signals on our labor market focused on the automotive sector, “he said.
In Parliament, after suspending his campaign for the day, the Liberal chief spoke for two and a half minutes in the media without taking questions.
