After years when Android Auto had only a dark interface, Google seems ready to change course, bringing the clear theme that disappeared in 2019. At the time, the transition to an entirely dark design was clear, but now something moved in the opposite direction. Already in 2023, some users had discovered traces of the light theme within the system. Too bad it was hardly just a test: only the navigation bar and the suggested tabs were colored in white, the rest of the interface remained dark and incoherent. He was certainly not ready to be used. But things have changed. In the latest version examined by Android Authority, the clear theme has been applied to all Android Auto screens. There are no more sudden contrasts between the dark and clear parts. Everything is more coherent, more readable, more refined. In addition, colors are now dynamic.
When your phone goes from dark mode to clear mode, Android Auto automatically follows movement. Although the dark theme fits well in the often black interiors of most vehicles, in full sun, it is not always the best choice. With the new bright theme, indeed, Android Auto becomes more visible in broad daylight, when the light hit the screen directly. After all, there are applications, like Google Maps, which already change this way, directly on Android Auto: it is logical that the rest of the interface can do the same. This is a useful option, which has no sense of not having it on your vehicle, since it has been present on smartphones (and PCs) for years now. That said, we are still talking about a non -public test, hoping that Google will soon activate this option for all drivers.
