But for lovers of period bicycles, vintage bikes and retro cars, it is to Palexpo that we will have to go, for the fourth edition of the “Swiss RetroMecanika». Its organizer, Dominique Durussel, of Dakota Events, details the planned program in the hall of more than 15,000 m².
Dominique Durussel, the Swiss Retomecanika is devoted to “ancient locomotion”. What do you mean by that?
Dominique Durussel: It is, in general, all vehicles over 30 years old who roll or navigate, using an engine or a mechanism. There will especially be cars and motorcycles, but also old bikes or a historic TPG trolleybus.
What will be the oldest vehicle on the exhibition?
-I think it will be the bikes that date from the beginning of the XXe century, in the years 1910-1915.
What are the flagship animations of the program?
Saturday, at 3:30 p.m., we will organize an auction of 30 vintage cars. There will also be dedication sessions of four designers who are illustrated in the automotive field, as well as competitions.
In the stands, we will find enthusiasts, sellers, garages, used parts or reduced models, technical literature … It’s a whole world of nostalgic!
Do you rather expect an audience of experienced or curious collectors?
We expect between 10,000 and 12,000 people, because it is really an all public event. There is a nostalgic effect that works well; People are very demanding of what reminds them of the 1950s to 70s, even the 80s to 90s.
But the youngest are also attracted because they like what moves. In the end, we are a bit all children (laughs).
