In order to financially support the media, the State of Senegal granted a subsidy of 384 million CFA francs to 12 private press companies. It is within the framework of the financial restructuring program of press companies initiated by the Ministry of Communication, Telecommunications and Digital, in partnership with the Development and Supervisory Agency for Small and Medium Enterprises (Adepm).

The companies beneficiaries of this first batch are: media group of the South, Raceco, Xenox group, group E Media, group of Media, group Sud Communications, Almadies Media, 3M Universal -7TV, Group Leral, Pessafrik, Lamp Fall TV, Origins SA.

During the launching ceremony of the first batch this Saturday, Hard Dia, director of communication underlined the need for transparency. “” When the Senegalese, by the effort they make, contribute through their money to the state budget, which is redirected and ventilated to a vital sector for democracy, consecrated by press freedom, it is essential that we, like press patterns, can have as rigorous management as possible of these money ».

The director of the Adepme, Marie Rose Faye, has given the details of this program. “” This program is a model that has been designed with all stakeholders, which will be in the form of grants up to 75% which are supported by the Adepm and 25% by the companies themselves. So, there is a commitment from companies and this subsidy is made on the basis of a refund, “she explains, saying that this program will” support press companies to get up, but above all to structure themselves, to be viable and to be the models that Senegal expects in what is freedom of the press, but also the transmission of fair and truthful information ».
