The results of the tragic accident this Saturday morning in Vélingara increased from 2 to 11 dead, according to concordant sources. The drama involved a Minicar carrying the best students of the Saré Coly Sallé high school and a trailer truck.
The students, accompanied by some of their teachers, went to Vélingara as part of an educational visit when the accident occurred. The event caused great emotion within the local population.
An atmosphere of desolation currently reigns at Vélingara hospital, where the bodies of the victims and the wounded were transported. Several wounded, in critical condition, were transferred in an emergency to the Tambacounda regional hospital for specialized care.
-Local authorities and rescue services are fully mobilized. An investigation was opened to determine the exact circumstances of this drama.
In a note, the Ministry of National Education expressed its deep compassion to the families of the victims and to the entire educational community affected by this drama.
