The Ministry of National Education of Senegal came out of its silence after the collision between a bus carrying students and a truck.

“It is with great sadness that the Ministry of National Education informs the public opinion of a road accident involving a bus transporting students from the Middle Education College (CEM) Saré Coly Sallé 10 km from Vélingara in the Kolda Academy, on May 03, 2025.

As part of the extra muros activities of the PFPI project (vocational training and integration project), thirty-five (35) students, accompanied by their teacher, went to an agricultural farm located in Saré Thialy for an educational visit.

Unfortunately, their bus collided with a truck.

The provisional assessment reports two (02) deaths and several seriously injured.

The Academy Inspectorate (IA) of Tambacounda, the medical inspection of schools (IME) and the Inspection of Education and Training (IEF) of Vélingara are mobilized to accommodate and assist the wounded in collaboration with the local authorities and the competent services.

The best measures are being taken to ensure rapid and adequate care of the people concerned at the Kolda Regional Hospital Center, the Tambacounda Regional Hospital and the Velingara Health Center.

The Ministry of National Education expresses its deep compassion to the families of the victims and the entire educational community affected by this drama.

The Minister of National Education personally follows the situation and calls for unity and solidarity in these difficult times.

An investigation will be carried out by the competent authorities to establish the exact circumstances of this accident ”, said the Ministry of National Education of Senegal after the collision.
