On the 4th day of the Daaka of Médina Gounass, the chief of the public hygiene brigade of Vélingara took stock of the activities carried out by the twenty elements made available to the organizing committee of the religious event which started on Saturday April 26 in the evening and which will end on May 5. Wednesday, Warrant Officer Pathé Baldé informed: “Since April 21, 20 elements of the Velingara hygiene brigades, Kolda and Médina Yoro Foulah are made available to the Daaka organizing committee.” From this date, men in brown are hard at work to prevent the occurrence of diseases of water or bacterial origin. First, according to Mr. Baldé, “in the city of Médina Gounass, we have disinfecting and disintecting 2 mosques and 22 concessions which were to receive religious dignitaries in prelude to Daaka. This made it possible to treat 374 pieces lodging 733 people ”. Still in the pre -opening phase of the religious event, the public hygiene agents have been dusting from the city as well as the site, and launched the activities of verification/control of the good condition of the drain trucks, mobile toilets, as well as tanker trucks. That’s not all. During this period, 122 concessions were visited for awareness sessions on good hygiene practices, treatment and use of water.

Then, in the aftermath of the opening, the Pathé Baldé teams continued the same awareness -raising activities in the site (accommodation and kitchens) on hand washing and vegetable disinfection techniques, with donations of hygiene kits (soaps, antiseptic products). For the moment, a small amount of products unfit for consumption, worth more than 200 thousand CFA francs, has been removed from the commercial circuit.
