Boubacar Camara was appointed secretary general of the government (SGG) to replace Mohamed Al Aminou Lô. This technocrat with recognized skills, had led Senegalese customs for four years in 2000, under Abdoulaye Wade, before taking the head of the Beninese customs administration. At his new position, his specifications will consist in coordinating government action in a context marked by the launch of several strategic projects, including the reduction of public debt and the fight against unemployment of young people. Major promotion in the General Inspectorate of State, Boubacar Camara initiated structural reforms to customs, reforms that have contributed to the modernization of this administration. He notably contributed to the design of an electronic collection application for port and customs documents. Before being number 1 in Senegalese customs, the new secretary general of the government had exercised as a commercial operations auditor at the Customs Office of Léopold Sédar Senghor International Airport in Dakar.

After his visit to Senegalese customs, he pursued his career in Benin whose nationality he also has. In November 2021, he was appointed Deputy Director General of Customs in Benin, a position he left on November 24, 2024 to devote himself to his presidential ambitions, before finally renouncing a candidacy.

Boubacar Camara holds a master’s degree in public law obtained in 1991, a DEA in public law in 1992, and a teaching deas in 1995. Authorized Maritime Expert in Cargaisons since 1994, he also obtained the patent of the National School of Administration and Magistrates (ENAM) as a customs inspector. Its predecessor Mohamed Al Aminou Lô, in charge of the Senegal 2050 agenda is appointed Minister to the President of the Republic responsible for monitoring, piloting and evaluation of the national transformation agenda “Senegal 2050.”
