The survey of the burglary perpetrated on the night of March 2, 2025 at the IT office of the Directorate General of Public Accounting and the Treasury was completed by the Urban Safety (SU) of Dakar.
The main suspect, Moctar Sall, was arrested last Thursday and will be presented this Monday before the public prosecutor at the Dakar tribunal de grande instance. He is prosecuted for association of criminals, flight in meeting with break -in in a public building, use of a rolling means, and theft with scandal.
The hearing of the respondent made it possible to shed light on the circumstances of the burglary. 27 -year -old, a merchant domiciled in Guédiawaye, Moctar Sall admitted bluntly the facts alleged. Single and father of a child, he claims to have been embarked in this case by an individual nicknamed “Malaw”, still on the run.
A “deal” offered for 120,000 FCFA
Moctar Sall explained that he met “Malaw” in a sales room. The latter would have offered him a plan after learning that the young man regularly frequented the place of independence. “He showed me a building which he said abandoned, belonging to his uncle, and promised me 120,000 FCFA to recover computers there,” he said to the investigators.
On the day of the flight, Moctar is transported to the scene by “Malaw”, aboard a Jakarta motorcycle. Placed near the Ice factory adjoining the Auchan Mairie-Ville store, it receives 500 FCFA and a baguette. He says he has climbed a tree to access the first floor, before being redirected by phone to the second floor by his accomplice.
“On the second floor, I found two computers that I attached with the help of a scarf, then I went back down by the same path,” he said. Once the operation is completed, he finds “Malaw” not far from the Saint-Michel school. The latter gives him 70,000 FCFA, a croissant and a sachet of water, while promising the rest of the sum later. Never promise. The two separate from the Sandaga bakery.
It was only after the media coverage of the burglary that Moctar Sall discovers that the building visited belonged to the direction of the Treasury. He would have tried to convince “Malaw” to restore the computers, but the latter would have refused any contact. During the search at his home, the investigators found the clothes he wore the flight evening, identifiable thanks to video surveillance images. On the other hand, the two stolen computers were not found.
