Invited on the set of the program Champ against Champ, Néné Fatoumata Tall, former minister and member of the Executive Secretariat of the Alliance for the Republic (APR), delivered a clear analysis on the situation of former President Macky Sall, in a context marked by the recent declarations by President Bassirou Diomaye Faye.
Reacting to the proposals of the Head of State in office, Néné Fatoumata Tall first recalled that any citizen can claim justice, while stressing that the status of a former head of state is not assimilated to that of a simple citizen. “It is not any jurisdiction that will judge a former president of the Republic,” she said, pointing to a requirement for compliance with specific institutions and procedures.
It has also rejected any idea of a calamitous management which would justify legal proceedings against Macky Sall, believing that no obstacle should prevent it from returning to Senegal. In his eyes, the accusations carried would be more of political interpretation than of law. In the viewfinder of Néné Fatoumata Tall, a recent declaration by Bassirou Diomaye Faye, who had suggested that Macky Sall would operate in the shadows from abroad. An outing that the former minister strongly criticized.
“It is a shame to hear such comments,” she said, judging that the President of the Republic should not indulge in unfounded accusations. True to her political commitment, she also reaffirmed her support for Macky Sall, whom she still considers as the legitimate chief of the APR. “The former President of the Republic is in his right to return to Senegal without hindrance. It should not be judged on the basis of conjectures or political declarations, “she insisted, calling for restraint in speeches and a strict respect for the rule of law.
