On May 3, 1975, the Jura Socialist Party (PSJ) was created during a rally of 200 sympathizers at the Jura restaurant in Bassecourt. This Saturday, same day and same place, not far from 130 people and some brand personalities such as the federal councilor Élisabeth Baume-Schneider, gathered to celebrate this 50th anniversary of the PSJ in a camaraderie atmosphere.
On this occasion, the party invited several guests around a discussion on the theme “of the socialists in the face of political and economic crises”. Mattea Meyer co-chair of the Swiss Socialist Party, Baptiste Hurni Advisor to the Socialist States (NE) and Hadrien Buclin researcher in contemporary history at the University of Lausanne and Vaudois deputy on the left exchanged during the conference-debate led by Françoise Schaffter.
The story of the PSJ in a book
The celebrations were marked by the presentation of a work retracing the 50th anniversary of the Jurassic PS. “This book is a socialist pride machine,” said Jean-Claude Rennwald, who took care of gathering the texts. The book Jurassic PS, 50 in the Solidarity Service is the work of Jean-Marie Miserez, Lisa Raval, Françoise Schaffter, Adrian Zimmermann, all activists and / or socialist officials.
Among the successes cited in the book, Jean-Claude Rennwald returned to the progression of women within the party and the elective posts. “In 1976, Valentine Friedli was the only one elected to the constituent.”
