
Five men, at least four of whom are of Iranian nationality, were arrested on Saturday in the United Kingdom, “suspected of preparing a terrorist act,” the London metropolitan police (MET) announced on Sunday.

These arrests took place in the London, Manchester (Center) and Swindon regions, west of the capital, where searches are underway, police said in a statement.
-“The investigation relates to an alleged conspiracy aimed at a specific premises. Agents have contacted the sites concerned to inform them and provide them with the necessary advice and support, but for operational reasons, we are unable to provide more information at the moment, “she added.
Also according to the police, the four Iranians are aged 29 to 46, while the age and nationality of the fifth man remain to be determined.
“This is an investigation that evolves quickly,” said the head of the MET anti -terrorist service, commander Dominic Murphy, quoted in the press release.
“The investigation is only in its infancy and we explore various avenues in order to establish any potential motivation and determine whether this case can present an additional risk for the public.”
