The Duke of Sussex can no longer return to England with his children
This Friday, May 2, the Duke of Sussex, 40, lost a legal recourse concerning the security levels to which he and his family are entitled during their stay in the United Kingdom. Prince Harry had appealed against the decision to deprive him of safe security paid by the British taxpayer. The judge of the Court of Appeal found no reliable legal element on which to base himself to prove the second son of King Charles III, even “If the arguments were powerful and moving”admitted Sir Geoffrey Vos, President of the Court of Appeal. “It is obvious that the Duke of Sussex felt badly treated by the system But I concluded, after having studied the details, that one could not consider that the feeling of grievance of the Duke could constitute a legal argument allowing to challenge the decision of the Ravec ”. Prince Harry must, in addition, pay the legal costs which amount to 1.7 million euros.

Following this setback, which prevents Prince Harry from benefiting from a close guard during his stays in his native country, the BBC was able to win an interview with the prince. In the hours following the decision, the BBC Californian antenna questioned Prince Harry for half an hour, addressing different aspects of his life and the inconveniences caused by such a decision. “I like my country, I have always loved it, despite what some people in this country have done … And I think it’s really very sad not to be able to show my homeland to my children. »»
“Basically, this is a family conflict, and it makes me really, really sad that we are sitting here today, five years later, with a decision that was most likely been made, in fact, I know, to keep us under their thumb”deplores Prince Harry in front of the BBC cameras. Prince Harry denounced an interference after noting that an eminent member of the royal house also sat within the committee called the protection of royalty and public figures (Ravec). It is this committee which coordinates the security of members of the royal family on behalf of the Ministry of the Interior and it was this committee that decided to no longer provide protection to Prince Harry, on the pretext that he was no longer an active member of the royal family since 2020.

Prince Harry would like to reconcile with his family
Prince Harry also discussed his relationship with his father, who is simply absent today. “I would really like to reconcile myself with my family, there is no point in continuing to argue. Life is precious, I do not know how long my father still has to live, he no longer wants to speak to me because of these security problems. »» King Charles III, 76, suffers from cancer that was diagnosed at the beginning of 2024. The form of this cancer was never publicly revealed and Prince Harry had jumped on the first plane when he had learned his father’s illness.

The Duke of Sussex added that if the communication was broken today, the fault returned only to his family. “If they don’t want it, it’s entirely their problem. »» Prince Harry also thinks that his father would have enough power to put pressure so that he can recover his security. “In the end, this whole case could be resolved thanks to him”.
Regarding his relations with other members of the royal family, including his brother, Prince William, Harry explains: “There have been so much disagreement and divergences between me and some members of my family. This situation which has lasted for five years concerning human life and security is the point of friction. This is the only thing that remains. »»
Prince Harry held the stick himself to be beaten and certain acts committed-such as writing a dependent book against his family-probably did not help to appease tensions. “Of course, some family members will never forgive me for having written a book. Of course, they will never forgive me for a lot ”admits Prince Harry. For his part, he says he is ready to forgive, in particular to his family whom he considers involved in certain agreements with the press. “The press itself sparked so much hatred towards my wife, myself and even my children. It is difficult to forgive. There are decisions that have been made, there have been things that have happened since 2016 that I can now forgive. I exceeded that. I can forgive the involvement of my family, my father, my brother and my mother-in-law. I can also largely forgive the press, for so many things that have happened. »»

A possible return of Prince Harry to the United Kingdom?
“I don’t see how I could bring my wife and my children back to the United Kingdom at this stage. They will regret everything. I like my country, I have always done it, despite what some have done there. »» Prince Harry believes that it would be too dangerous to return to his country with his wife Meghan and their two children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.
“I miss the United Kingdom, of course. I think it’s really sad not to be able to show my native country to my children. »» Archie was born in 2019 in London and lived very little time in England. At the end of 2019, Harry and Meghan left for Canada and made the decision not to return to London. The decision was announced in January 2020. After the health crisis, the couple settled in the United States. They now live in Montecito, California. Their daughter Lilibet was born on American soil. Harry and his two children are now 5th, 6th and 7th in the order of succession to the British throne.
