It’s official. The realization of the University Hospital Center (CHU) of the Euromed University of Fez (UEMF) today has taken a major stage.
At the end of a national competition, the architectural design of the project was entrusted to the group “Architecture workshop El Ouali and Hajji and Associates”, recognized for its expertise in the construction of benchmark hospital infrastructures, such as the CHU Mohammed VI of Tangier or the Center regional hospital in Kenitra. Established on a site of almost 30 hectares, this future CHU was thought from the start according to the concept of “smart hospital”. It will benefit from advanced equipment and mobilize the best national and international experts. It will integrate the latest technological advances: artificial intelligence, connected objects, big data, robotics, cobotics (human-machine cooperation for surgery), as well as real-time data analysis. These technologies will occupy a central place in clinical processes and hospital management.
The project also provides digital platforms dedicated to training, simulation and international collaborative research. Partnerships will be established with renowned CHU around the world to strengthen the training of students and health professionals. The first phase provides for the commissioning of 350 beds, contributing significantly to the strengthening of the supply of care in the region, with the introduction of medical specialties still little represented at the regional and national level. The Euromed de Fez CHU will work closely with the Hassan II CHU of Fez. It will revolve around three strategic missions. First, ensure high -level training in health disciplines. Second, develop an offer of tertiary care complementary to the existing. Finally, promote research and innovation, both in terms of diagnosis and treatment. The medical project, drawn up in coordination with the Ministry of Health, is aligned with international standards, both in terms of medical technology and environmental sustainability.
-From its opening, the establishment will offer essential clinical services to accommodate the first medical students, dental medicine, pharmacy, nursing, biomedical engineering and biotechnology. It will include general medicine, surgery, gynecology-obstetrics, medico-surgical emergencies, as well as cutting-edge installations in medical imaging, biology and functional explorations. Several poles of excellence are planned to meet the priority needs of the country and the region: personalized and precision medicine, treatment of emerging diseases, restorative surgery, oncohematology, sports medicine, legal medicine and criminology, heavy trauma with a trauma center, management of burn as well as radiological and endoscopic interventions. Artificial intelligence will play a key role in diagnosis and therapeutic management.
For its initiators, the EUROMED CHU of Fez is a structuring project within national scope, located at the crossroads of the fields of health, higher education, research and technological innovation, in perfect adequacy with the ambitions of the Kingdom.
