Lhe Friday May 2, 2025, Dr Adil Ouzzane, urologist surgeon and robotic surgery expert, carried out a radical robot-assistant prostatectomy remotely.

From the Casablanca International Center for Oncology (CIOC), he has intervened on a patient supported at the International Polyclinique de Laâyoune (Pil). The intervention went successfully, and the 52 -year -old patient is doing well and will be able to leave the clinic in the coming days.

To make this feat possible, the AKDITAL group has equipped the two establishments with latest generation surgical robots. This equipment provides practitioners with increased accuracy and dexterity, allowing more effective interventions and faster recovery for patients. Another key element lies in connectivity between the two sites. Thanks to the architecture set up by the group’s information systems management, the response time has been reduced to 20 milliseconds.

SD-WAN technology has made it possible to ensure a secure connection via two distinct connections: one in fiber optics, the other by hertzian beam. The device guarantees both patient safety and a fluid experience for the surgeon, as if it were physically on site.

The operation was conducted by Dr. Adil Ouzzane, also president of the Moroccan Robotic Surgery Society (MSRS), from Casablanca. In Laâyoune, the “patient trolley” has executed his orders with precision, while the Drs Younes Tibari and Pr Adil Mellouki, urologists surgeons, were present in support in the event of unexpected. Dr. Khalid Azizi, resuscitator and medical director of the Polyclinique, has taken care of anesthesia. The experienced paramedical team, led by Siham Bouhtouri, director of care of the AKDITAL group, also played an essential role in the success of the intervention.

At the end of the operation, Dr Adil Ouzzane assured that the patient is doing well. “I am particularly proud to have carried out this first in Morocco. That a doctor in Casablanca could operate a patient in Laâyoune was, not so long ago, unimaginable. Today, it has become a reality ”.

For this part, Dr. Rochdi Talib, CEO of the AKDITAL group, stressed: “I have always dreamed that my Moroccan fellow citizens, even in the most distant areas, can benefit from the skills of our experts installed in major cities. Today we have done it, and we are proud of it. This opens the way to a real decentralization of high -tech care for everyone, everywhere in Morocco ”.

With this historic first, the AKDITAL group confirms its commitment to democratize access to advanced care, to reduce territorial inequalities in health, and to position Morocco as a major regional player in medical innovation.
