The official Algerian media have locked themselves in a strategy to explain and justify these exaggerations and these lies, strengthening this impression that the country sinks massively into the collective denial.
One of the major behaviors that the era of President Abdelmajid Tebboune introduced in Algerian political life is the consecration of lies as political life and government management. Tebboune, with her populist and demagogic style, went directly from the exaggeration of realities to their simple inventions. Everyone remembers the astronomical figures that Tebboune balances on the capacities of the Algerian economy which certainly made the sarcastic happiness of social networks, but which have not given rise to any subsequent rectification.
On the contrary, the official Algerian media have locked themselves in a strategy to explain and justify these exaggerations and these lies, strengthening this impression that the country sinks massively into the collective denial. The delirium goes from the stadium of a president, appointed to his post by the military hierarchy, to a belief which aims to be collective and generalized.
Not content with polling the economic image of a country that suffers from all handicaps and shortcomings as shown “the culture of the tail” which has become a common and daily practice to obtain the commodity of basic necessity, President Tebboune is a master in the art of locking up the whole country in virtual realities.
The most recent and spectacular example is its blunt statement according to which under Algerian economic pressure, Spain would have changed its position of support for Morocco’s sovereignty on its Sahara. Since he wandered this lie with certainty, social networks are rusting questions about the reality of the facts. At no time had Spain reversed its position on the Sahara. On the contrary, his Minister of Foreign Affairs José Manuel Albarès not only confirmed the position of his country on the Moroccanity of the Sahara but drew the Algerian regime on his stubbornness to continue investing at a loss and indefinitely on the separatist adventure of the Polisario.
-And yet President Tebboune spoke to the Algerians on this subject with such certainty and such assurance that the commentators were divided between two options. Or Tebboune deliberately lies in his opinion, which means that he would have erected lying and fabrication as a government strategy. Or his advisers watered him with false information on the subject that pushed him to feed this conviction on a possible Spanish rear march. In both cases, Tebboune is caught in the dish of a flagrant distortion of reality which will participate in killing all his credibility or at least giving him an image of a patent fabricator or easily manipulable and influencing character.
Algerian power has been so locked in his own world, with his own virtual realities, that he not only refuses to see Moroccan diplomatic performance which convinced the whole world of the viability of the option of autonomy, but believes hard as iron as his diplomacy, however muddled and illegible with many diplomatic crises in support, would be very effective.
The Algiers regime refuses to see the reality of its relationships with its environment. A chronic break with Morocco, a crisis with the Sahel, a tension on the verge of the nervous nervousness crisis with France, a structural distrust with European countries, an execrable relationship with the Arab countries. And yet Tebboune tries to sell another reality to his opinion, that of a normal country with normal relations with its regional and international environment. As if all these crises and tensions have no existence for him.
Tebboune and his regime invented an artificial reality in which they prefer to live rather than face the harsh truth of its economic and diplomatic failure. And this power is so in despair that it exploited a hashtag “3ami tebboune does not go to Iraq” to give itself a missing legitimacy. For the propagandists of this regime, this hashtag is a cry of the heart of the Algerian population for its president who would prove how the Algerian population is attached to its president. To come to exploit a hashtag to achieve such conclusions speaks volumes about the degree of political autism in which a diet that has lost all its compasses.
