Agadir and Marrakech in mind in the hotel industry

The number of fixed Internet subscriptions reached around 2.6 million in September 2024, against only 1.6 million in 2019, according to data from the National Telecommunications Regulatory Agency (ANRT) in Morocco. In terms of fixed internet performance, the cities of Rabat and Casablanca come to the lead at the national scale, with an average speed of 36.55 Mbps for Rabat and 35.57 Mbps for Casablanca, according to the data from Speedtet Intelligence in the fourth quarter 2024.

Regarding Wi-Fi performance in luxury hotels, some establishments in Agadir and Marrakech stand out with a download speed of 72.27 Mbps for the Hotel The View, 55.72 Mbps for the Riu Palace Tikida hotel and 54.64 Mbps for Mamounia. However, the report reports disparities in the quality of Wi-Fi service in certain classified hotels in Rabat and Casablanca, despite the availability of fiber optic networks.

This situation would be due to technical problems linked to the configuration of access points or to their location in hotels, indicates the report which calls for a modernization of equipment and an improvement in the distribution of internal networks.
