The first network of philanthropy in France, the Foundation of France encourages, supports and transforms the desires to act for more than 50 years, in the service of the general interest. The past year was marked by a succession of economic, social, health, or climatic crises which have more than ever demonstrated the importance of responsible and committed philanthropy, in proximity.
In 2024, the Foundation of France Center-Est and the 80-we-sheltered Foundations of the Region, responded, with a significant increase in their activity: 1,555 projects were supported in all areas of the general interest for a total amount of 35.7 million euros, an increase of 20 % compared to 2023.
Act closer to needs in 16 departments
The projects supported by the Fondation de France Center-Est are distributed in nearly 400 municipalities in the territory, the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region to the departments of Côte-d’Or, Doubs, Jura and Saône-et-Loire. Leteritory Center-Est houses large rural areas and several large urban metropolises, the needs are immense, the disparities strong and isolation a major issue.
“Our region was again at the rendezvous of generosity this year, by mobilizing massively at the local level, and also in an emergency as part of Solidarité Mayotte. Philanthropy is an essential lever to allow the emergence of new solutions and build a more peaceful, united and sustainable world. We carry the vision of a responsible and committed philanthropy in favor of our territory, which changes its practices, in response to needs, ”explains Delphine Allarousse, general delegate of the Foundation of France Center-Est.
The regional team of the Fondation de France is made up of 8 employees and 30 volunteer experts who engage in the field to develop private generosity by supporting patrons in a relationship of trust, identifying initiatives carried by associations wishing to provide transformative solutions. It also supports companies wishing to engage in patronage every day. Gradually, companies become aware of their ability to act for the general interest in their territory, beyond their economic role, by strengthening their local anchoring and their social impact.
The Foundation of France Center-Est acts thanks to the generosity of 83,000 active donors and the commitment of 80 sheltered foundations (+ 5 in 2024), carried by as many families, large schools and companies in the territory.
Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, the first territory of philanthropy after Île-de-France
Coming from a long solidarity and humanist tradition, the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region confirms its position of first philanthropic territory behind Ile-de-France with 10.8%* of foundations and endowment funds acting for the general interest. Companies play a decisive role in the development of philanthropy: 46 %* of the foundations and endowment funds in Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes have at least one company among their founders (+16 points versus the national average).
“We support companies wishing to engage in patronage every day. Gradually, they become aware of their capacity to act for the general interest in their territory, beyond their economic role, by strengthening their local anchoring and their social impact. Philanthropy is resolutely a determining lever for the territorial impact of companies, ”adds Olivier Desmarescaux, president of the Foundation of France Center-Est.
-The philanthropy sector is very dynamic on our region with the presence of very active funds and foundations. Each year new patronage initiatives are born, certain collectively. The foundations and endowment funds in Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes favor a proximity action, 70 %* of them act at the departmental and regional level.
