Michel Becker, who resumed the reins of this treasure hunt in 2021, spanned its effects since the location of the cache was discovered, on the night of October 2 to 3, 2024, and communicates only with drops to maintain the interest of “owners”.
The location of the discovery had since been kept secret: those who wanted to know it had to book and pay their place for one of the 500 event sessions of a 1 hour 10 hour documentary, The discovery of the golden owlbroadcast only Friday and Saturday.
In the film, the name of Dabo, where many owners tried to dig, is well revealed, the organizers said on Friday evening at the agency-France press. They have already announced the launch of a new season of this treasure hunt.
This legendary quest for the great golden owl had been launched in April 1993 by Régis Hauser, who had taken the pseudonym Max Valentin, and who died in 2009. He had buried a bronze owl statuette in a place that had to be identified thanks to eleven puzzles presented in the book On the trace of the golden owl.
Undergoing the replica made it possible to win the owl, sculpture of ten kilos in precious metals, designed by Michel Becker and produced by an goldsmith. Its value had been initially estimated at one million francs (150,000 euros).
After a long conflict between Becker and the heirs of Hauser, the game had been relaunched in 2021, with new indices on the Discord social network.
