In the aftermath of Oliver Rowland’s victory in the first race in Monaco, the championship leader signed the pole position by defeating Nyck de Vries. Except that the situation has changed in the Principality with the arrival of the rain. The departure was therefore given on a wet track, for equipped formula E, remember, Hankook tires capable of driving under these conditions.
At the extinction of the fires, Oliver Rowland kept his head but he gave up orders to Jean-Éric Vergne, who chose to deploy his attack mode at the start of the event. The efforts of the French have however been reduced to nothing: after a full race Yellow consecutive to an exit from Lucas Di Grassi, Nico Müller’s crash caused the intervention of the safety car in mid-race.
After the Restart, Sébastien Buemi took advantage of an impeccable strategy of the Envision team to climb in mind. The Swiss has therefore never dropped the reins of the race, letting its pursuers explain, sometimes warmly, to take the escaped powder and go to cut the finish line with more than four seconds in advance.
Pillar of the discipline, Sébastien Buemi had not won the slightest e-prix of Formula E since his victory in New York in 2019 under the colors of the Nissan E.DAMS team!
Oliver Rowland, despite a non-regulatory overtaking at the Port Chicane which forced him to make the position to Jean-Éric Vergne, managed to go back to second place, which confirms his position as leader in the championship. Behind, it is Nick Cassidy who went on the third step of the podium.
