The season has been hectic for Alpine F1 for the moment. Performance flashes but, in terms of points, there is only seventh place obtained in Bahrain so far by Pierre Gasly.

So what is the trend for the A525? The Frenchman was questioned on this subject in Miami.

“The tray is extremely tight, especially given the position where we are fighting. At the near three tenths, we can be in Q3 or eliminated in Q1. It is therefore simply difficult to give you a trend.”

“We have managed to manage the last two events well. We were not very lucky during the first three races. But I think we have the speed necessary to compete with the Williams, the Racing Bulls are very competitive at times, and the Haas too. We will therefore have to be at the top and exploit every hundredth of Millisecond of our package, and I am sure that we will be able to fight for that.”

Again, Pirelli chose to bring tires more tender than last year. But we were not entitled to two judgments in Djeddah. Will this have more impact here? Will it play in favor of Alpine?

“Well, I think yes, it is certain that it brings a little more unknown this year, with a sprint weekend. This does not simplify things in terms of tire allocation and steering to take, so there will probably be compromises to do at one point or another of the weekend.”

“But yes, I think we could see a little more strategy differences, certainly for Sunday. I am sure that we will learn more on Saturday, once we have finished the sprint race.”

“As for us, we always manage to get out of it during the sprints so hope that it will be a factor that will play for us.”
