Health Canada issued a reminder on Saturday on pregabalin capsules 50 mg. Certain bottles labeled as capsules of 50 mg could contain 150 mg.

The targeted capsules have the expiration date 2026-08 and the lot number 2305012747.

Jamp-prregabalin is a drug used to treat pain associated with fibromyalgia and the pain of nerve lesions due to diabetes, zona or spinal cord damage.

Taking a 150 mg tablet instead of 50 mg can represent excessive medication and “cause overdose and present serious health, even death”, informs Health Canada in its public opinion.

Symptoms of pregabalin overdose may include sudden mood changes, drowsiness, confusion, depression, agitation, nervousness and convulsions.

Health Canada asks people who take pregabaline tablets 50 mg to check the contents of their bottle to ensure that it is well written “PG 50 mg” in black on the capsule.

The government stresses that the patient should not suddenly stop taking pregabalin, this could cause withdrawal symptoms.

Health Canada asks healthcare professionals to check Jamp-Prregabalin’s bottles 50 mg.
