The Federation of Omnipraticians of Quebec (FMOQ) rejected on Saturday rejected the proposal of the government of François Legault in relation to their working conditions. At the heart of this decision: the new classification of patients according to a system of colors and their state of health.

The 18 associations of the FMOQ adopted a resolution unanimously on Saturday morning while negotiations were started to renew their framework agreement, which defines their practices.

The new patient classification system proposed by Quebec, under which color codes would be used to classify patients by categories according to their state of health, either green, yellow, orange or red, seems to be a source of discord.

The FMOQ Fear that the 4.9 million patients tried in good health by the government will lose their family doctor. The Minister of Health, Christian Dubé, has however assured many times in recent weeks that person [n’allait] lose one’s family.

In addition, on April 24, Quebec proposed to the FMOQ to link part of the compensation of doctors to their performance, the Treasury Board thus offering devote 25 % of the current global budget envelope to performance.

Since August 2024, the approximately 10,000 family physicians in the province have been in negotiations with Quebec for the renewal of the framework agreement which defines their working conditions in the public network, which ended in March 2023.
