Carney will speak to the media and answer journalists’ questions at 11 a.m.
During the electoral campaign, he promised to quickly attack trade tensions with the United States. He also maintained himself on Tuesday on the phone with the American president, Donald Trump.
Trump said the two men would meet in Washington next week, but Mr. Carney’s office has not confirmed this information.
Carney has not expressed himself publicly since the evening of the elections, when he delivered his victory speech in Ottawa, promising to trace a new path for Canada in order to free him from his strong dependence on the United States.
According to Elections Canada, the Liberal Party won 168 seats, one less than the total announced on Monday, after a validation process revealed that the Bloc Québécois was the winner in the district of Terrebonne.
The Conservative Party won 144 seats, while the Bloc Québécois obtained 23. The new Democratic Party has elected seven deputies, while the Green Party will only be represented by its Elizabeth May chef in communes.
Since the elections, Mr. Carney spoke with several international leaders, including King Charles III, the Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, the president of the European Council Antonio Costa and the Secretary General of the United Nations António Guterres.
