Canada announces its first 15 players for the world championship


The IIHF 2025 ice hockey world championship is fast approaching and promises to captivate sports enthusiasts once again.

The event will be held from May 9 to 25, this time in co -presentation between Denmark and Sweden, two countries where hockey occupies an important place in sports culture.

While the teams are starting to train, Hockey Canada has unveiled the identity of the first 15 players who will wear the country’s colors during this prestigious tournament.

Although the full list will be announced in the coming days, these first names already give a good overview of the Canadian team approach: youth, speed and intensity. Management has bet on a good mixture of NHL’s experience and promising young talents who will be keen to defend the colors of the country.

The tournament represents a unique opportunity for several players to assert themselves on the international scene, while allowing certain veterans to take the Canada sweater again. Expectations are always high when it comes to Canadian training, and this 2025 edition will be no exception.

A single player in the list of the first 15 guests has no experience in the NHL and it is the goalkeeper Dylan Garand.

Garand, 22, was a choice of 4th round of the Rangers in 2020. He has spent the last 3 seasons with their school club in Hartford in Lah.

It would be surprising if he was the number 1 goalkeeper of Canada for this world championship. It remains to be seen who others will accept the invitation.
