General packaging, Algerian leader in corrugated cardboard, recently launched the work to carry out a large stationery in Naâma in southwest Algeria. For the first manager of the private group Ramdane Batouche, this is a “pivotal moment“In the history of the Algerian industry.
The installation of the foundation stone of the factory took place on April 24 in the presence of the Naâma wali, Lounès Bouzegzala, and the CEO of General Package, Ramdane Batouche.
Located on a 30 -hectare plate at the Naâma industrial zone, the factory will have an annual production capacity of 350,000 tonnes of cardboard made from recovered paper waste.
An investment of $ 300 million to reduce imports
It will create 1,500 direct and 4,000 other indirect jobs, and will guarantee Algeria, by replacing importation, a saving of 250 million dollars each year. The cost of investment is estimated at 40 billion dinars, or $ 300 million.
It is therefore a project of high economic, social and ecological importance for the country. With this factory, Algeria will no longer import raw material for the production of corrugated cardboard.
The launch of this project “strategic“Constit”A pivotal moment in the history of national industry because this stationery should significantly reduce the country’s dependence on paper imports“Explains CEO Ramdane Batouche in the last issue of the company’s review whose head office is based in Akbou (Bejaia).
Upon receipt of the factory, at the end of 2027, general packaging will be “Finally in a production diagram controlled from start to finish with 100 % integration from the treatment of fibrous waste to the packaging through paper“He adds.
The factory will allow you to have an integration rate of 100 % since it will exclusively use paper waste recovered at the four corners of the country.
General Package already has three large recovery centers located in Algiers, Oran and Sétif and plans to open 12 others by the opening of the Naâma factory.
The general packaging factory in Naâma: “A pivotal moment in the history of the Algerian industry”
For Ramdane Batouche, the new factory is “a stable work whose base has been started for several years« . »We had already advanced well on a primordial, but quieter phase, with the construction of a national infrastructure for the recovery of fibrous waste which will constitute the raw material of this stationery“, He writes.
This phase, he continues, has inscribed the company in a new activity and positioned it as a major player in Algeria in the recovery of waste of paper and boxes to recycle.
An environmental issue
She also weakened it with a “appreciable engineering“, Which means that the present period is envisaged as that of a”reproduction of operational patterns already proven to strengthen this infrastructure“With the objective of adjusting recovery capacity to the needs of the future stationery.
Even before its start -up, the project already contributes in fact to the creation of employment through recovery craftsmen who feed the recovery centers, welcomes the CEO of General Package.
The other interest of the factory is environmental. “”It is a new milestone in the history of general packaging with the happiest incident effects, the least of which is not to relieve communities of thousands of tonnes of waste to give them a new life“, Writes Mr. Batouche.
The social scope of the project is also undeniable because, as the group’s first manager, “underlines” underlines, “It is part of a geographic area, which is not invested, thus constituting an act of attenuation of regional disparities which can potentially induce a training effect“.
