Traffic towards the north caused an important traffic jam on Saturday in front of the southern got of the Gothard. Also in the opposite direction, travelers had to be patient.

(Keystone-ATS) The vehicles sometimes found themselves blocked for ten kilometers between Quinto and Airolo, said the Touring Club Swiss (TCS) on the X platform. Shortly afternoon, it took an hour and a half more than in normal conditions to browse this section of the A2.
Shortly after 6:00 p.m., the situation had only improved slightly towards the north. The TCS announced still seven kilometers of traffic jams. For motorists towards Zurich, the alternative route via the A13 and the San Bernardino tunnel was recommended.
In the opposite direction, towards the south, four kilometers of traffic jams were reported in the early afternoon between Amsteg and Göschenen (UR), with waiting time reaching 40 minutes. The situation normalized in the late afternoon.
