(Ecofin agency) – Since its launch in 2021, the young Franco -Senegalese Findme shoot has worked with several African postal services to develop its digital address system. Its representatives met the Guinean authorities this week.
The Guinean authorities received on Wednesday, April 30, a delegation from Findme, a start-up based in Senegal and France on Wednesday, April 30, which presented them with a digital addressing system intended to improve postal services, in this case the distribution of packages, even in the most remote areas of the country. The solution is based on technology allowing better identification of geographic locations throughout the territory, in order to optimize the logistics of the last kilometer.
For Rose Pola Pricemou, the Guinean Minister of Posts, Telecommunications and the Digital Economy (MPTEN) “This type of partnership could significantly enhance the quality of the services offered by the Guinean Post and position the latter as a key player in digital transformation and sustainable development in Guinea”. However, no document has yet been signed between the two parties.
Like many countries in Africa, Guinea suffers from a precise lack of addressing which affects the quality of postal and logistical services, especially in rural or landlocked environment. This situation also highlights the loss of relevance of postal services in Africa in the era of digital transformation. To survive and get useful in the current ecosystem, it must be reinvented, and the introduction of a digital address system is a strategic step to restore its competitiveness and its public service mission.
The initiative is part of the broader context of the modernization of public services and digital transformation into Guinea. If this partnership materializes, it could inspire other projects in the e-commerce, delivery sectors or even local administrative services. Ultimately, it would help build a more robust and inclusive digital economy in the country.
-As a reminder, the Findme start-up was founded in 2021 by Brandon Wanguep, a young Cameroonian living in Senegal. It has partnerships with La Poste Senegal, the American Google Maps and the Dutch Tomtom, companies specializing in online cartography.
