Customers of the operator’s low cost offer, B & YOU, will have to pay termination fees if they wish to subscribe to a new package with one of its competitors.
Are operators tightening the screw to avoid losing their customers? Bouygues Telecom has chosen to establish termination costs on its non -binding mobile packages. If such costs already existed for fiber or ADSL subscriptions, this is the first time that an operator has applied them to its mobile packages.
From June 9, customers of the B & YOU packages, the Low Cost brand by Bouygues Telecom, will have to pay 5 euros if they want to go to competition. This surcharge thus applies to the three B & YOU plans in 5G without obligation, namely 4.99 euros for 1 GB of Internet, 8.99 euros for 40 GB or even 9.99 euros for 200 GB. These costs of 5 euros can however be “Free in case of force majeure”as a death, imprisonment, debt, unemployment after a dismissal of a permanent contract or hospitalization.
Current customers were warned by email, according to Franceinfo, in a very discreet letter. The latter notably mentions the holidays, the weather or the costs abroad. In the last lines, it is however stipulated that“We also have new on your offer. If you were tied after June 9, costs of 5 euros will be applied to you ”. This initiative is part of a business war context between mobile operators. With the portability of the number, customers no longer hesitate to change packages regularly, thus playing competition.
