The Visa and Mastercard payment giants engage in the AI shopping era, by launching each of the services to allow IA agents to do online shopping independently instead of consumers.
Visa and Mastercard presented a blow of services in the field of generative AI used to automate online purchases. The Visa Intelligent Commerce platform allows IA agents to “find, select and buy” on behalf of consumers. These agents follow precise instructions, in particular expenditure limits and selection criteria defined by each user. “Everyone sets their own limits, and Visa takes care of the rest,” said Jack Forestell, Product and Strategy Director at Visa.
Visa claims to collaborate with several AI actors, including Anthropic, IBM, Microsoft, Mistral AI, Openai, Perplexity, Samsung and Stripe, to develop purchasing experiences enriched by AI. These partnerships aim to ensure increased personalization while maintaining a high level of security. The solution is based on APIs, the use of token digital identifiers and real -time transactions management.
Mastercard lance Agent Pay
For his part, Mastercard unveils Agent Pay, a technology designed to integrate payments directly into conversations with AI agents. The declared objective: to make personalized recommendations a real channel, by allowing agents to buy for the user in complete safety.
According to Mastercard, these agents will be able to help a consumer to plan a birthday party by choosing outfits adapted to the weather, as to assist an SME in its international purchases. Payments will be made “using a virtual business card token”, specifies the payment service provider.
MasterCard indicates working with Microsoft, IBM, Braintree and Checkout.com to strengthen the uses and safety of payments piloted by AI. The rules of the program require that the AI agents be verified, consumers keeping control over purchasing decisions.
These announcements are part of a context of strong dynamics around IA thought interfaces to execute online purchases. Read our file dedicated to this theme >> Ai shopper.
