Morocco once again confirms its global heavyweight status in the tomato sector. According to data published by Eastfruit, Moroccan tomato exports to Norway reached an unprecedented record during the current season, with 5,000 tonnes dispatched between July 2024 and March 2025. This is an increase of 37.9 % compared to the same period of the previous season, and 28.9 % compared to the total of the 2023/2024.

This new milestone strengthens the strategic position of the kingdom on the Scandinavian markets, especially in a context of high winter demand. In January 2025, a record monthly volume of 1,150 tonnes was exported to Norway, making it the most efficient month ever recorded. This remarkable performance comes while Norwegian demand in imported tomatoes peaks during the winter, and the Spanish and Dutch exports – the other two main suppliers – show signs of slowdown.

Since 2021, Morocco is among the first three world exporters of tomatoes, a success that is explained by the recognized quality of its production, competitive prices, and a well -oiled export strategy. If France, the United Kingdom and the Netherlands remain the key markets, Norway is increasingly importing the same source. Between the 2019/2020 season and that of 2024/2025, the market share of Moroccan tomatoes in Norway rose from 6 % to more than 29 %, a considerable leap. The kingdom is now on the right track to exceed the Netherlands and become the second supplier of the Nordic country, behind Spain.

Beyond the tomato, Morocco actively diversifies its offer on the Norwegian market. Exports of mandarins, blueberries and frozen raspberries also gain ground. This dynamic testifies to the country’s ability to adapt to the requirements of international markets and strengthen its reputation as a reliable supplier of high quality agricultural products.

This progression illustrates the concrete effects of an agricultural strategy turned towards export, but also the supported efforts of the kingdom to conquer new outlets, even on demanding markets like that of Norway. While the 2024/2025 season is coming to an end, all the indicators suggest a new historic performance for the Moroccan market gardener.
