(Keystone-ATS) A blind person has made this week a complete independent journey, from a public starting point to the Biopôle d’Epalinges, using the M2 Lausanne metro. Thanks to a harness with cameras, navigation sensors and a computer equipped with artificial intelligence, the participant was able to take each stage without human assistance, the TL on Friday in a press release.
It was the first public test of the NIM project (independent navigation for the visually impaired). According to the TL, this “first” took place “successfully” last Tuesday. Initiated by the TL, the start-up Biped (which has developed the high-tech harness) and the Urbagement company, the project is supported by the Synnergy program of Innovaud.
