A 3.1 magnitude earthquake was felt this Valais Sunday in Bern. There seems to have no damage, confirms the Swiss seismological service.

An earthquake of a magnitude of 3.1 was recorded in Valais, according to the Swiss seismological service. Although no damage is expected, the tremors were perceived in an area extending on the cantons of Valais and Berne, in particular affecting the localities of Lauterbrunnen (BE), Lax (VS) and Grindelwald (BE).

The earthquake occurred 10 kilometers southeast of Mürren (BE). The Swiss seismological service reports that between 1000 and 1,500 earthquakes are recorded each year in Switzerland and in neighboring countries. Among these events, around 10 to 20 earthquakes with magnitude close to 2.5 are generally felt by the population.
