Zurich (AWP) – The Swiss Stock Exchange is expected to start the last session of the weekly week, after the May 1 break. The New York Stock Exchange ended up on Thursday, driven by the better than expected results of two giants in the American technological sector, Meta and Microsoft.
“The S&P 500 has increased for the 8th consecutive session despite a series of weak economic data and cautious forecasts,” said Ipek Ozkardeskaya, of Swissquote. The lack of climbing in the trade war and the ‘Dovish’ expectations of the Federal Reserve certainly explain a large part of the recent gains. “But optimism is fragile, and the Fed capacity to help depends on the trajectory of inflation,” warned the expert.
In the macroeconomic chapter, observers will scrutinize the first estimate of April inflation in the euro zone as well as unemployment in March still within this area. Across the Atlantic will be unveiled this unemployment rate this afternoon in April.
Around 8:10 am on the Swiss Stock Exchange, the SMI star index gained 0.23% at 12,145.01 points, according to the front-out indications compiled by Bank Julius Bär, after having increased on Wednesday 0.42% to 12,117 points. Almost all of the twenty star values were adorned with green, only Novartis and Roche (-0.5% each) as well as Sonova (-0.7%) fell.
-The UBS banking and the value of Luxury Richemont took the lead accompanied by Logitech and Holcim, up each of 0.7%. SWISS LIFE insurers, Zurich Insurance and the SWISS RE -RESSUREUR BRAND EC each of 0.6%.
The third heavy goods vehicle Nestlé scored 0.5%.
Excluding SMI, Landis & Gyr fell 2.5%. The group finished the 2024/25 offbeat exercise in the red, penalized in particular by the establishment of American customs duties.
