The bilateral agreements with the European Union will considerably occupy the front of the political scene in Switzerland in the coming times. If we do not yet know their exact content, the years that has spent the interruption of negotiations in 2021 have made it possible to give an overview of what isolatedism would cost Switzerland, if we refused them.

First, there was the high price paid by the academic world, which was excluded from European research programs. But if this exclusion has been able to negatively and permanently affect certain academic careers, it must be admitted that for the general population, this measure did not have perceptible effects on a daily basis, and that it was difficult to quantify.
