The Italian prodigy Andrea Kimi Antonelli (Mercedes) created the surprise by winning the pole position of the Sprint race from the Miami Grand Prix on Formula 1 on Friday.

The 18 -year -old rookie has ahead of the two McLaren of the Australian Oscar Piastri and the British Lando Norris respectively 45 and 100 thousandths of a second.

Antonelli, who has the difficult mission of succeeding the seventeenth world champion Lewis Hamilton in the German team, broke the Floridian circuit record where he had never controlled before. A few hours after having become a father for the first time, the Dutch reigning world champion Max Verstappen (Red Bull) took fourth place, ahead of the British George Russell (Mercedes) and the two Ferrari of Monegasque Charles Leclerc and Hamilton. On the Sauber-Ferrari side, Nico Hülkenberg shortly missed a place in Q3 (11th), while Gabriel Bortoleto (19th) will appear in 10th and final line on the grid.
