Twelve private press companies obtained, on Saturday, a subsidy of 384 million CFA francs within the framework of the financial restructuring program of press companies initiated by the Ministry of Communication, Telecommunications and Digital, and implemented by the Development and Supervision Agency for Small and Medium Enterprises (Adepm), noted the APS.
”This program [le programme de restructuration financière des entreprises de presse] is a model that has been designed with all stakeholders, which will be in the form of grants up to 75% which are supported by the Adepm and 25% by the companies themselves. So there is a commitment from companies and this subsidy is based on a reimbursement ” said the director of the Adepm, Marie Rose Faye.
She was speaking during the launching ceremony of the first press funding lot by the government.
According to her, this “major program” will support press companies to get up, but above all to structure themselves, to be viable and to be the models that Senegal expects in what is freedom of the press, but also the transmission of just and truthful information “.
The director of communication, HABIBOU DIA invited the press owners to manage these funds in the greatest transparency.
-“When the Senegalese, by the effort they make, contribute through their money to the state budget, which is redirected and ventilated towards a vital sector for democracy, devoted by press freedom, it is essential that we, like the press patterns, could be as rigorous as possible as possible of these money ”, he launched.
Speaking on behalf of the Council of Diffusers and Press Publishers of Senegal, the director general of 3M universal -7TV, Maïmouna Ndour Faye, praised the initiative of the Adepme to accompany the media.
We are business leaders. We are responsible people. It was men and women who have done long studies, who trusted us, who decided to link their journey to our journey. And we are responsible today to think about how, the ways and means of perpetuating the activities of these press companies. This is why this initiative of the Adepma is welcome, and I hope that all other press companies can benefit ”, she said.
