The Prafrica Forum was held this Saturday, May 3 at the University of Commerce in Istanbul (Istanbul Ticaret üniversites), bringing together researchers, experts, students, diplomats and members of the African diaspora in Türkiye around a common objective: to rethink the challenges of the African continent from endogenous solutions.
Organized by the Africa reflection platform (Prafrica), the event was articulated around the central theme “Africa and African solutions with contemporary challenges”. The discussions took place during three main sessions, addressing geopolitical, economic, scientific and international issues.
The first session, moderate by Professor Ahmet Kavas, former Türkiye ambassador to Chad and Senegal, focused on the questions of sub-regional integration and the security and economic challenges of West Africa. The speakers proposed strategic prospects anchored in the history and reality of the continent, also addressing themes such as ethical finance and civilizational heritage.
The second session focused on “Africa in a new era”, emphasizing scientific research, technological innovation, food sovereignty and the central role of African diasporas, with a pan -Africanist view to the future.
-Finally, the last session, entitled “Africa in the international system”, invited participants to reflect on the place of the continent in global relations, by exploring tracks for democratic governance, strengthened economic sovereignty and fair trade integration on a regional and global scale.
On this occasion, Mr. Moussa Hissein Moussa, journalist and doctoral student, said: “As his theme suggests, it is Africa and African perspectives in the face of contemporary challenges. We have to try Africans to adapt the changes that happen in the world to Africa, and to adapt Africa to the changes that are happening in the world. »»
For his part, Mr. Adel Fathi Sanogo, general coordinator of Prafrica, recalled that “we, as a platform for reflection Africa, which brings together African researchers here in Türkiye, think that we can provide solutions to African questions. That is to say African solutions to African problems, by organizing this forum. »»
The organizers have stressed that the responses imposed from the outside have often shown their limits, while Africa is experiencing a deep and accelerated transformation. It is in this perspective that Prafrica intends to bring out an autonomous African word, based on knowledge, critical analysis and the mobilization of diaspric youth.
