The Ministry of Infrastructure, Land Transport and Air Transport (MITTA) in Senegal launched a firm appeal to Senegalese carriers of extraordinary large and out -of -template trucks. He urges them to comply with the prohibition of circulation of these vehicles on the Malian territory, which has come into force since April 1, 2025, in accordance with Regulation 14 of the UEMOA.

In a statement released this Friday, MITTA recalls that a prior notification had been sent to professionals in the sector on March 19. However, several trucks from Senegal have been immobilized at the borders or inside Mali, for lack of compliance with the new measure.

Following diplomatic interventions carried out by the Senegalese authorities, the Malian government granted an exceptional stay of 15 days, from April 29 to May 13, 2025. During this transitional period, the trucks concerned are authorized to circulate under customs escort, according to an interdepartmental instruction of April 28.

The Senegalese ministry warns: after May 13, 2025, no more extraordinary trucks will be authorized to cross Mali. He therefore calls for carriers, logisticians and economic operators to take all the necessary measures to comply with the regulatory requirements of this partner country, in order to avoid any future hindrance to their commercial activities.
