Japan is willing to support Senegal for the 2050 vision. This is one of the reasons for the visit of the Minister of Foreign Affairs Japanese. It is an assumed position: “Japan is not in a competition to become the first partner of Senegal in terms of investments.” It is insurance given by the Department of Japanese Foreign Affairs. In an interview with local media, Kaneko Mariko, vice spokesperson for Japanese diplomacy, detailed the position of his country. “We are looking to support Africa because the continent has potential to develop. It is in this context that we want to help. It is a different position from that of other countries. In terms of values, we have fundamental differences. Japan is a democratic country and China is a communist. It is a major difference. We collaborate with countries with the same values as us, ”she said, highlighting the stability of Senegal which she considers as the anchor of Japan in West Africa. However, the Japanese diplomat admitted that her country needs natural resources in Africa. However, she said, “we do not want to exploit them excessively”.

Kaneko Mariko returned to the Senegal 2050 vision. The vice spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan said that her country is willing to accompany Senegal on this deadline. “The visit of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Japan demonstrates the country’s commitment to contribute to the new strategy of Senegal by emphasizing human resources development,” she said. For Kaneko Mariko, petroleum, gas, mines, urban transport, trade, agriculture and farming, health, industrialization and capacity building of Senegalese SMEs, sectors for which Senegal wishes to accelerate its collaboration with Japan, are areas in which the Land of the Rising Sun comes. “On the other hand, on some, the government of Japan is willing to facilitate exchanges with its private sector,” she added.

This is the whole objective of the next summit between his country and African leaders. “At Ticad, we will invite the heads of state of the continent to come and tell us their aspirations. There will be no question of proposing cooperation with Africa. Rather, it will be up to Africa to tell us its needs. Japan has advanced technologies in several sectors and is willing to benefit our partners. We have a dynamic private sector capable of meeting the challenges of the hour, ”she explained.

Also challenged on the trade war that his Chinese neighbor and his American ally engage in, Kaneko Mariko gave the position of his country. “We understand the decision of the USA to impose reciprocal prices according to their trade deficit. Countries like China have applied the same rates. The position of Japan which was imposed 24%customs duties is that all countries had to benefit from free trade. You have to have frank and sincere discussions to overcome this obstacle for the good of all, ”she concluded.
